Where does time go? Is it really March already? It\u2019s hard to believe we\u2019re standing on the doorstep of spring,\u00a0<\/span>hay fever<\/span>\u00a0tickling our noses, awaiting the warmer weather. Or in the case of people on the other side of the world like me, autumn is setting in, providing a cool reprieve from the long hot summer, and finally a chance to pull out some sweaters. I love sweater weather.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The authors here at JL are spread all over the world, but we came together in this blog post to talk all things books: what we\u2019re currently reading, some recommendations, and some upcoming releases we\u2019re excited about. Katelyn Barbee is currently reading a historical biography:\u00a0<\/span>Eleanor of Aquitaine<\/span>\u00a0by Alison Weir.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

AE McKenna is currently reading\u00a0<\/span>Deadly Spells<\/span>\u00a0by Jaye Wells, a gritty fantasy thriller, and the third novel in the\u00a0<\/span>Prospero\u2019s War<\/span>\u00a0urban fantasy series.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mari LaRoche is c<\/span>urrently reading a sci-fi thriller: A\u00a0<\/span>History of What Comes Next<\/span>\u00a0by Sylvain\u00a0<\/span>Neuvel<\/span>. Mari has been a big fan of his since reading the\u00a0<\/span>Themis Files<\/span>\u00a0Series.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Matthew Dewar is currently reading YA contemporary fiction,\u00a0<\/span>The Boy from The Mish<\/span>\u00a0by Gary\u00a0<\/span>Lonesborough<\/span>\u00a0and listening to sci-fi novel,\u00a0<\/span>To Sleep in A Sea of Stars<\/span>\u00a0by Christopher Paolini<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Hanna Day has three books on the go. She is re-reading epic fantasy\u00a0<\/span>W<\/span>arbreaker<\/span>\u00a0by Brandon Sanderson, historic military fantasy\u00a0<\/span>The Poppy War<\/span>\u00a0series by R.F. Kuang, and the epic fantasy graphic novel series\u00a0<\/span>The Monstress<\/span>\u00a0by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Another graphic novel reader in the group is J.E. Klimov who is currently reading\u00a0<\/span>The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse<\/span>\u00a0by Charlie Mackesy, declared book of the year in 2019 by Barnes and Noble.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

M.H. Thaung has just finished reading\u00a0<\/span>How to Defeat a Hero<\/span>\u00a0by J. Bennett, a superhero book with interesting social commentary.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kristy Perkins is<\/span>\u00a0being entertained by\u00a0<\/span>Cursor’s Fury<\/span>, by Jim Butcher, the third book in the\u00a0<\/span>Codex Alera<\/span>\u00a0series. She\u2019s also getting into\u00a0<\/span>Season of Storms<\/span>, by Andrzej\u00a0<\/span>Sapkowski<\/span>, from the\u00a0<\/span>Witcher<\/span>\u00a0series.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
